Sant'Ambrogio

Basilica Sant Ambrogio MilanoGuided Tour
'Sant'Ambrogio'

A church, a saint, medieval city walls. All this makes ‘Sant’Ambrogio’ as we say in Milan.
Ambrogio is the saint patron of Milan. He was the archbishop of Milan who became one of the most influential ecclesiastical characters of the 4th century.

The church was first built in the 4th century by Ambrogio and refurbished in the 12th century in the Romanesque style and it still preserves its medieval atmosphere. Inside, you will discover the Golden Altar, a jewel of Carolingian craftsmanship, 5th century mosaics and the Stilicone sarcophagus.

The “Pusterla di Sant’Ambrogio” is one of the remaining medieval posterns.

Our tour will take us around the university located in an ancient Benedict monastery, the Temple of Victory, the Cova castle (an eclectic 20th century building) and many other wonders.

The visit is aimed at foreigners but Italian people are welcome to join if they want to follow a tour of the city in English.
The visit can be customised to fit your specific requirements, should you be more interested in sightseeing or shopping
